Easy 7k

Well 10 minutes post run and I have had a glass of water and a peanut butter and jam sandwich. Hopefully that will stave off the exhaustion I felt after the last time out.

This run felt like a normal run for the first time since I got Pleurisy. I think my body is finally totally healed!! Yay! My knee felt great...the only thing I felt was blessedly normal muscle tiredness! Oh goodness it feels so good to feel normal!

Today's run was about 7km's. Pretty easy going with some hills along the way. It was kind of chilly...the temperature dropped a good 5 degrees from the start of my run to when I got home. I was so warm and sweaty that it was not unbearable.

I am actually excited for the next run!

Foodwise...this weekend was a write off. I had the weekend off of work so I invited a girlfriend over and we ate home made brownies and 7 Layer dip until we were fit to burst! The next day (yesterday) I made a beef roast with a massive quantity of roasted root veggies to go with it. It was sooo good!!! Today however I have been pretty good. I will have eaten only about 1400 calories by the end of the day (going to have some more tasty roast in a bit here).

Buut anyway...sitting here and cooling off has made me start to shiver so I must log off and go have a nice hot shower.

Talk to you next time!

Busy, busy!

Hey all.

I finally made it out for a run yesterday after much postponing and making excuses. I'm starting to feel the pressure of exams again and a run was just the ticket to rid my body of built up tension. (It was also a GREAT way to avoid studying!) lol!

So the run was pretty uneventful. It was beautiful outside, we had just gotten a pretty good dumping of snow a couple days ago and yesterday a chinook rolled in. I think it was somewhere around plus 10 so it was really nice out. All the snow had melted and cleared from the sidewalks and it was pretty easy going.

I ran a nice 8km's and they went really well. ( there was a particular hill that kicked my ass though..../grumble grumble...I WILL conquer you! ) Even with the bit of hill work I was surprised that I ended up so tired afterwards. It was so bad that standing up made me feel like I was going to pass out! Have any of you experienced substantial fatigue after a run? What do you do to handle it? I'm thinking I will try drinking and/or eating more earlier in the day since I really didn't eat a whole lot before I headed out.

As for my 10k app progress, I just did week 7, day 1 which was 10 sets of running 4 minutes and walking 2,   and have lost 2 lbs this week. I am officially  back down to my pre-holiday weight of 149lbs. It feels sooo good to be under 150 again. :D  9lbs down and 20 more to go!

Hoping for a run tomorrow, will keep you posted.

Laters!

Daily Exercise

While relaxing after work tonight I found a very interesting video on youtube that I would like to share with you guys.

It kind of brings to light some interesting facts supporting daily exercise.

Little Lily

Ah blessed sore muscles how I have missed you! Thighs are sore today. :D

I'm thinking since I have lots going on in my life right now that this will end up turning into a running/riding/eating blog. Will hopefully keep work/school out of this also.

Speaking of riding, I went to my riding lesson today and I was the only one! This meant that I was able to have a private lesson ($60) for the price of a regular one ($40)!!

The little mare I ride is just a sweetheart. She tries so hard! We managed to spent lots of time just working on flat work. Trying to get her to bend as well as working on her halt. She was really improving by the end of the lesson. We even popped over a few little jumps.

Food wise I managed to stay under my recommended 1200 calories yesterday...barley. My store sells the most amazing 2 bite cinnamon rolls with cream cheese on them. They are freaking to die for! Yummy!

That's all I had for today. Hopefully I won't be too sore tomorrow for a run. It is week 7 day 1 of the 10k runner. :D I'm actually looking forward to it for once.

Anyhoo laters all.

Why hello there!

So I'm sitting here in my office, listening to my fiance play ToR (Star War the Old Republic), reading running blog after running blog thinking to myself. "Why don't I start my own blog?" Then I say to myself "Pfft, that would mean I would have to WRITE stuff."

To hell with you negative self. I have bitten the bullet and am going for it.

I am not a writer at all. I am a numbers person and yet I sit here, ToR open (tabbed out), youtube open (also tabbed out), and typing this blog.

My inspiration for doing this comes from the fact that I have recently started running. I started back in September by doing the 5k runner  by Felttip on my iPhone. This was the greatest thing I could have done. I wish I had started this blog back then!

I completed this program before Christmas and haven't ran much since. I tried to start back at the beginning of January and after the second run I came down with Pleurisy. Now this wouldn't be a problem except for the fact that pleurisy is an inflammation on the lining of your lungs. This makes breathing very painful. So needless to say I had to take some time off from running. Lucky for me, my pleurisy didn't last long. A week later I was back out. :D

The first 2 runs back went great! I ran outside and it was beautiful. The weather was chilly so I wasn't overheating (which I tend to do if I run inside on a treadmill). On my second run towards the end my knee started to hurt. I thought it was just sore and it would go away in a few days. I tried to do my third run and oh boy! The pain! So I took another break.

Finally after 2 more weeks I have no knee pain!

I am officially pushing to finish my current program. I am working through the 10k runner by Felttip on my iPhone. This will have me running 60 minutes! A whole freaking hour! I thought half an hour was going to be tough ( and it wasn't too bad in the end ) but this just doesn't seem possible.

I just finished week 6 day 3 and it went really well. Total distance was just under 7km's in about an hour.

I really hope to stay accountable to myself by keeping this blog and hopefully my experiences will help others just starting to run!
